Johanne is responsible for the knitting patterns at Dreamknit — how every garment is constructed, how it grades through the sizes, and how the instructions read once they reach your needles. She puts that work into the design tool, so the choices you make there come back as a pattern of your own — and the garment you have been dreaming of.
She has knitted for more than fifteen years, and was fifteen herself when she finished her first colorwork sweater. More than 200 projects have come off her needles since. Along the way she took a bachelor's in applied mathematics and a master's in engineering and ICT, and in 2023 she joined Dreamknit, where the two halves finally do the same job.
What she actually does
Choices that add up
Pick a neckline, a sleeve, a fit, a specific ribbing. Johanne makes sure every combination you can land on adds up to one pattern that hangs right and reads clearly.
Any yarn, any gauge
The maths has to hold whether you knit tight or loose, in chunky or lace weight. She writes and checks the conversions, so the pattern still fits for every yarn you choose.
Help at every step
She digs into the techniques before they reach you, so each instruction says what to do and why. A pattern should be good company, not homework.
Designs that flatter
Every choice in the design tool is drawn to sit well on a real body. Johanne shapes them so the pieces look good on their own, and better together.
