FINE MERINO WOOL WITH MOHAIR

A classic combination we never get tired of! The merino wool types have a gauge of 28 stitches per 10 cm as specified on the label, such as Sandnes Sunday, Knitting for Olive Merino, Filcolana Arwetta, or Rauma Lamullgarn (meterage 210-250 m).

Hold it together with any type of mohair, such as Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair, Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair, Rauma Plum, HipKnitShop Hip Mohair, Filcolana Tilia, or Drops Kid Silk. Most of them have around 200-225 meters per 25 grams.

This combination gives 21 stitches per 10 cm on 4.0 mm needles.

DOUBLE STRAND OF MOHAIR

The combination that makes you feel like you're wearing a cloud! Any type of mohair works, so feel free to get creative!

Most of them give 20 stitches per 10 cm on 4.0 mm needles. Depending on the mohair you pick, you'll land somewhere between 18 and 22 stitches, so check the yarn before you cast on.

WOOL + MOHAIR

We've knitted several sweaters with this combination. We especially love to combine Filcolana Peruvian Highland Wool with a strand of mohair. Peruvian has a meterage of 100 meters per 50 grams.

This combination gives 17 stitches per 10 cm on 4.5 mm needles.

We also like HipKnitShop's yarns for this look. Pop Merino held together with a strand of Hip Mohair gives 18 stitches per 10 cm on 5.0 mm needles.

HEAVY MERINO + MOHAIR

Heavy Merino, like Knitting for Olive's one, is a yarn that we find has more structure than e.g. Filcolana Peruvian, but it's still soft. It has a meterage of 125 meters. We've knitted Heavy Merino in combination with a strand of mohair, resulting in a gauge of 17 stitches per 10 cm on 4.5 mm needles.

TWEED + MOHAIR

Tweed gives your knit texture and those little flecks of color. Hold it together with a strand of mohair and you get the softness on top.

Depending on the tweed you pick, this gives 15-21 stitches per 10 cm on 4.0-5.5 mm needles.

Our Pretty in Tweed Sweater is knitted in Isager Aran Tweed with a strand of Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair:
