The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down. You begin by knitting the back piece, before picking up stitches for each shoulder separately and shaping the neckline opening with increases. The front and back pieces are joined under the armhole, and the body is worked back and forth in stockinette. The sleeves are worked top down by picking up stitches around the armhole. The button band, and neckline ribbing, is worked by picking up stitches along the front edges, and the cast-on edge, and working a ribbed edge.
