The beanie is worked in the round from the bottom up in stockinette stitch. It is meant to be folded twice around the brim, and will be nice and warm with three layers of fabric around the ears – you can either knit the brim down as you go, or sew it down afterwards. The work is then turned using German Short Rows to make the wrong side the new right side, and the body is worked straight up to the crown.
Each of the six sizes has its own stripe guide, giving the color and the number of rounds from the first round to the top, which you read alongside the instructions. All six sizes – Baby (Kids) S (M) L (XL) – are included in the same pattern.

Head circumference: Measure around the head where the beanie will sit, above the ears. S fits juniors and smaller women, M women and smaller men, L larger women and men, XL larger men. The measurements in the pattern are indicative – try the beanie on along the way to tailor it to your head.
