Zip Me Jacket
The Zip Me Jacket is a cardigan with a zipper, a high neck in twisted rib and a clean look that goes with everything. The recommended yarn is wool held together with silk mohair, for a soft finish and plenty of warmth.
This is the pattern for learning to steek. The jacket is knit in the round like a sweater, then you sew over the steek stitches with a sewing machine, cut it open and sew in the zipper. Every step is explained in detail with photos, so it's less scary than it sounds.
It's knit from the top down, so you can adjust the length of the body and sleeves. Sizes XS to XXL.
This grey version is knitted with one strand of Sandnes Garn Sunday and one strand of Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair held together.

The Zip Me Jacket is worked top down, so it is easy to adjust the length of the body and sleeves to fit your body. The jacket is worked in the round like a sweater, with steek stitches at the center front. At the end, you sew over the steek stitches with a sewing machine, cut the jacket open and sew in the zipper. The pattern has detailed descriptions and pictures for every step.
First the back piece is worked, then stitches are picked up for each shoulder. The shoulders are worked separately with short rows, decreases and increases that shape the neckline, then joined to form the front piece. The front and back pieces are joined under the sleeves, and the body is worked in the round. The sleeves are worked in the round from stitches picked up around the armhole, and the neckline is worked back and forth in twisted ribbing from stitches picked up along the neckline opening.
